I started my pottery studio in Toronto in 1981. Right after graduating from college. A few years ago I moved , with my husband, to Bobcaygeon.

This is when I joined the Victoria County Studio Tour. It’s exciting to open my studio to customers . A place where I usually work in solitude.

I am a big fan of the work of Hundertwasser and Klimt. I do love the freedom of thought , line, colour and design these Masters exhibit. That being said, right now I am working exclusively with stoneware clay but I am combining it with leather sculpture. Always being aware of line , colour and design also, with my pottery , form and function.

This one of my favorite pieces because I think it combines both medium and design well. I found a glass coffin shaped box and I just had to make a “Deaths Head Moth ” with three little clay ghostly “rocks”.

Karina (Horus Eye Pottery) has been an active potter for over 20 years. Her work is strongly influenced by medieval, and especially, middle eastern designs and ornamentation. She also very much enjoys making reproduction pottery for the re-enactment community. In 2016, Karina participated in the Fusion Mentorship program under Michelle Mendlowitz, and in 2018, she travelled to Icheon, Korea with 5 other members of the Guild, to learn techniques from Korean pottery masters. Also in 2018, Karina was accepted into the KPG Juried show at the Peterborough Art Gallery and was honoured to win the Design Award from Angelo di Petta.

Karina regularly teaches the intermediate and advanced classes at the Kawartha Potters Guild and you can find Karina’s work in their Pottery Shop (both in person and online). When she is not in her pottery studio, Karina knits, gardens, wanders her property taking photographs, reads extensively and plays music when the opportunity arises.
