Hanny Rentel Fine Art
45 Francis St. W.  Fenelon Falls

Although my portfolio is diverse and includes landscapes, still life and portraiture, 1 gravitate toward the intricate and detail-oriented process of depicting obscure relics or organic objects with a twist.

It delights me to find old forgotten utensils and give them a place of prominence in my paintings. I love to catch the reflection of light on glass, metal or a liquid and try to portray that miracle of spectral luminosity on canvas. I find daily inspiration in the beauty of nature all around me, from the delicate construct of a seashell to the ethereal pink of a cat’s ear backlit by the sun.

Just adding a sliver of mortality to the fleeting beauty all around us.

Born in the UK, I trained as an Architect, immigrating to Toronto in 2012. I retired in 2014 to build the house we now live in and have been resident in Haliburton for 10 years, I paint mostly local subjects in both Watercolour and Acrylic and am an enthusiastic Plein Air painter. Watercolour subject matter is mainly buildings, preferably in their landscape context. Acrylic’s are predominantly local landscapes with favourite subjects being from Algonquin Park.

I display paintings in local galleries in Haliburton and Kinmount. In Haliburton I display at the Rails End Gallery and was formerly in The Ethel Curry Gallery before it closed. In Kinmount I display at the Artisans Marketplace. I have previously been a contributor to the Fenelon Station Gallery in Fenelon Falls. I was selected for this show in 2021 and have also been a regular contributor to Tour De Forest in Haliburton; both the summer and winter markets. I was also selected for the Kawartha Lakes Arts festival in 2022.
